Activist Daniel Thomas, commonly known as “Danny Tommo,” has been denied bail for a second time following a recent hearing. He is now set to remain in custody for an extended period as legal proceedings continue regarding his alleged involvement in an incident with a small boat in the English Channel.

According to updates on his case, Thomas’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 12, 2026. A provisional date for a full trial has been set for March 1, 2027 . Consequently, Thomas is expected to remain remanded in custody for approximately six months leading up to the trial

The decision to deny bail has provoked immediate and fierce reactions from right-wing commentators and political figures, who have juxtaposed Thomas’s ongoing incarceration with the handling of other recent high-profile legal cases. Critics have specifically highlighted the recent news that five individuals arrested in connection with a foiled terror plot near RAF Fairford were released on bail .

Prominent figures within the Reform UK party publicly criticized the bail decision, amplifying claims of systemic bias. Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage posted a statement asking, “How is it Danny Tommo sits in a cell while five suspected terrorists are out on bail? Is this two-tier Britain or am I missing something?” . Rupert Lowe of the Restore Britain party similarly described the refusal of bail as a “filthy disgrace” in light of recent events .

Activist Tommy Robinson provided an extended public update addressing Thomas’s legal and personal situation. Robinson framed the prolonged remand as a politically motivated attempt to silence Thomas. “They want him in prison ’cause it’s about sending a political message to the country,” Robinson argued .

Robinson also detailed the financial implications of the trial, stating that legal quotes for Thomas’s defense range between £90,000 and £160,000 . Robinson emphasized the necessity of fighting the case through a full trial, arguing that a not-guilty verdict is crucial to prevent stringent, long-term post-release licensing conditions that could severely restrict Thomas’s future activism and social media usage .

Furthermore, Robinson issued an urgent appeal for supporters to contribute to crowdfunding efforts intended to support Thomas’s family. He highlighted that Thomas is the sole provider for his household and that the funds are necessary to cover rent and basic needs during his extended incarceration, allowing Thomas to focus on his legal defense without financial anxiety regarding his dependents .

The extended remand ensures that Thomas’s case will remain a persistent flashpoint in ongoing national debates surrounding the UK justice system, the handling of political protests, and border security policies.
