Reform UK has received a massive financial injection ahead of the next general election, securing a record-breaking £36 million donation from cryptocurrency billionaire Ben Delo.

The unprecedented sum significantly bolsters the party’s election war chest, positioning Reform UK with a substantial financial advantage over the traditional political establishment. With this contribution, Reform UK has now raised five times as much as the Conservative Party and more than six times that of the Labour Party this year .

Delo, 42, explicitly stated his intention was to level the political playing field, providing Reform UK with a “fair fight in 2029”. In a statement published in The Telegraph, Delo criticized the existing political structure, writing: “Unlike the people who express mock concern for the health of our democracy while doing everything they can to keep it as a cartel, I want a fair fight and a level playing field” .

Nigel Farage lands record £36m donation for Reform

He added that his conclusion following Reform UK’s recent controversies was that the party “should spend less time trying to raise funds to compete on equal terms and more time preparing for government” .

This £36 million contribution shatters previous political donation records in the UK. The prior record was held by the Conservative Party, which received a £10 million bequest from Lord John Sainsbury following his death .

The massive influx of cash follows a period of significant fundraising momentum for Nigel Farage’s party. In the first two quarters of 2026, Reform UK had already raised £14.9 million, outpacing the £10.2 million secured by the Conservatives and the £7.7 million raised by Labour . This earlier boost was heavily driven by a £9 million donation from Christopher Harborne, who had previously given £5 million to Farage .

Before Delo’s massive contribution was confirmed, Reform UK had raised a total of £38 million since its rebranding from the Brexit Party in January 2021 .

The scale of the donation from a cryptocurrency entrepreneur is likely to invite intense scrutiny and debate from political opponents and the media. Commentators anticipate that traditional parties may push for tighter regulations on political donations originating from the digital asset sector .

Despite facing an aggressive media environment and recent operational controversies, the historic donation signals that high-net-worth individuals are increasingly willing to financially back Reform UK as a viable alternative to the established Labour and Conservative parties .
